On 14 April 2014, the Scottish Arbitration Centre and Konrad & Partners hosted the “Arbitration Scotland” reception in Vienna during the annual Vis Moot.
The Vis-Moot attracts more than 200 practising international arbitrators who voluntarily act as arbitrators for the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Every year, the competition attracts some 280 teams from universities worldwide who submit a written memoranda on a problem based on an international sale transaction with procedural issues of arbitration, and present their oral arguments in Vienna.
The reception was generously sponsored by Konrad & Partners and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Scottish Branch, and the exclusive guest list included some of the leading names in international arbitration. The event has been running for a few years now, having been established by Hew Dundas, Honorary Vice President of the Centre. Attendees also enjoyed music from Celine Roscheck, pictured below with Andrew Mackenzie, Chief Executive of the Centre, and Brandon Malone, Chairman of the Centre.
Mr Malone and Mr Mackenzie were also invited by Susan Le Jeune d’Allegeershecque CMG, the British Ambassador in Vienna, to the reception at her Residence later that evening. This was a further opportunity for the Centre to network with moot arbitrators, international arbitration practitioners and other guests.
