Various representatives of the Scottish Arbitration Centre addressed the American Bar Association Section on International Law in Edinburgh on 14 October. This was the first time the ABA has visited Scotland.
Andrew Mackenzie, Chief Executive of the Centre, chaired the session on arbitration and mediation in Scotland. Brandon Malone, Chairman of the Centre, provided a presentation on arbitration in Scotland.

There was also a session on Scottish independence, which included a presentation from Sir David Edward QC, Honorary President of the Centre. James Wolffe QC, a new member of the Centre’s Arbitral Appointments Committee, spoke on access to justice.
Gabrielle Buckley, Chair of the ABA Section on International Law, introduced speakers, and delegates included James R. Silkenat, the President of the ABA. After an interesting and informative day, delegates enjoyed the closing reception at Edinburgh Castle.
